Gera is the second largest town in the federal country of Thunringia but on the map only a small dot compared to German cities like Berlin, Frankfurt, Hamburg or Köln. And this is not only in terms of the number of population but also from the musically view. The availability of electronically music in form of Record Labels is very small despite of the big potential which exits in the area. Since the end of last year exist a small Record Label on the bank of the river „Elster“, run by Thomas Scheffel and Andreas Bruennecke. After the first wo releases, one from in Gera born Peter Schumann together with Daniel Sandriana, the other from Marcho, the Label founders themselves now present their first Release – „Schrumpfmetropolen EP“ (engl.: shrinking metropolis ep) For the insider, which knows the town Gera, are no further explanations needed. Because not much happens in Gera except the music which comes from there.
A: Tral 49 (written & produced by Thomas Scheffel & Andreas Brünnecke)
A easy beat with good placed chirping and cheeping sounds and a well-balanced groove are the key elements of the track „Tral 49“. After a DJ friendly introduction gloominess and psyche meet each other and invite to dance as both complement each other in full harmony and build the peak to the basis. The track is really nice arranged and meets every party peoples needs when it comes to dancing!
B 1: Zwischenlandung (written & produced by Thomas Scheffel & Andreas Brünnecke)
Zwischenlandung (engl.: intermediate landing) is a minimal track, which atmosphere brings a convenient feeling. The track starts with an emotional bass line, which makes space in the continuing story line for a melancholic melody, which coherence and charm never gets lost. The atmosphere, which is here created, is very specific and precise in its execution. There is no simple passing by… once started listening, the track makes the listener thinking about.
B 2: Der Kuss des Drachen (written & produced by Thomas Scheffel & Andreas Brünnecke)
The finish is a nice homage to all which prefer a more relaxed motion but don’t want to start sleeping on the way. A grooving beat cooperates in effective harmony with a classic Chinese stringed bowed instrument so that you don’t want to stop to seesaw in the rhythm. The whole time short padding sounds build up and down without losing the red line or leaving space for boredom. No wonder, the track is supported by a firm bass line and interesting samples carefully placed in between. First only slightly appearing comes the far eastern instrument during the break metallic and lovely fully up, unfolds its complete virtue and gives with that the song the certain character. Imagine… That was only „the Kiss of the Dragon“… what is gonna happen when he starts spitting fire?

Scheffel brünnicke – Schrumpfmetropolen EP (Elster Records / 002)
Eine extrem dunkle EP, in der jeder Sound so klingt als wäre er erst mal genauestens unter die Lupe genommen worden, ob da auch wirklich kein Schmutz dranhängt, nur um dann in eine Welt gestossen zu werden, in der wirklich alles in dunkelbraunen Grooves, Basslines und Stimmungen versinkt, in denen es kein Auftauchen mehr gibt. Merkwürdigerweise aber dabei eine Platte, die überhaupt nicht dark wirkt, sondern einfach nur perfekt und wie aus einer anderen Welt in einer großen Blase zu uns herüberteleportiert.

Bei der „Zwischenlandung“ auf der Reise zum Planeten „Tral49“ gibt es ein phantasievolles Zusammentreffen mit dem Drachen aus den Schrumpfmetropolen, namens Elster.Keinesfalls ist dieser in Kampfstimmung und somit ein Schutzmantel vor Verbrennungen nicht von Notwendigkeit.
Im Gegenteil, „Der Kuss des Drachen“ lässt ausschließlich die Hitze steigen und entfacht das Feuer auf der Tanzfläche.Scheffel & Brünnecke schaffen mit Ihrem Sound klar definiert einen sagenhaften Klangteppich, der von Beat zu Beat geschmeidiger wird.
Schön ausgearbeitete Klangbilder entstehen beim Lauschen der Songs und die Ästhetik
der Lieder verursacht Aufmerksamkeit in den Minimalmetropolen.
